more sewing

 I guess not sewing anything for months has built up inside of me! Yesterday, i made benjamin a coordinating pillow for his quilt with his favorite of the fabrics.  Thankfully, it's the guitar print i had the most yardage of!  He thinks it would be great if they made flannel sheets with that print :).  I used an orange sheeting fabric i had left over from the orange square i put in adam's quilt awhile back. More on that fabric later.  Also, because i can't leave well enough alone, i did some contrast stitching around some guitars for added interest, and put one pop of orange in for fun.  Not sure if you can see it very well, but it's there :)

See those orange pants? It's the same fabric from the back of the pillow.  That was my next project.  Actually, i cut them back in February, the day my machine went crazy.  So they have been sitting around, waiting to be sewn for months.  The orange fabric is actually a sheet set i bought from walmart (home and garden brand) b/c it was the right orange i needed for adam's quilt.  But when you only cut a smallish square from the pillowcase, you have a lot left over!  The sheets actually have a nylon-ish feel to them (not really great for sheets :-/ ), so i thought they would be great pants.  I lined them with some leftover grey flannel i had from my fall quilt.  The lining provides a soft interior, and gives a nice weight and feel to the pants.

All i did was trace a pair of well fitting PJ pants he had.  It worked perfectly!

i'm loving the grey and orange! They fit him so well...i was pleased!  I never know with clothes how the end result will be.  Adam wants a pair now. haha.

I think i need to sew something for ashlyn. before she starts feeling left out!

Have I mentioned how GLAD I am that you're back to blogging? I absolutely LOVE the guitar fabric and pillow! I caught a glimpse of the contrast stitching before reading what you'd done (so, yep, it can be seen) and I LOVE IT!!! Those PJ pants look so cozy too! They make me miss the colder months (and that's really saying something! - I HATE the cold!)
