They are just sitting here reading while waiting to go to school. Ashlyn brought her book to the restaurant last night to read while we waited for food, and benjamin was up til 11:00 (unknown to us!) the other night reading b/c he couldn't stop. i love it!!

The neighbor girls got some parakeets awhile back, and ever since, the kids have been begging to get some of their own. Ashlyn dove in to the internet and did soo much research. All about care, personality of boys vs. girls, things to watch out for, diet, instructional videos etc, etc. She's practically an expert! Last weekend they talked to Adam about it, and so adam and i popped over to the pet store to ask more questions. We told the kids "ok", and they have been dying all week! Ashlyn got some birthday money, which she put toward all of this. She said that she feels very responsible now that she has a bird to take care of, and she feels proud about all the research she has done ;) It's really just so adorable. We are pretty sure they are both boys... Ben's is Spike (front), and Ashlyn's is Beaker (back) :)
This morning i told ashlyn that it was my birthday too. She laughed and said no, but i explained that yes, it was....it was the birthday of me becoming a mom. She smiled, kissed me, and snuggled deep into my side. To me, it's not an anniversary of becoming a parent, because in fact, you are reborn. Your whole life changes. Your mindset changes. Your heart changes.
It is an amazing privledge to have someone grow in your womb, feel their movements from within, give birth to that person, and from that moment on, watch them grow into whoever they will become. You put your effort, mind, and love into that person. you know them. every bit of them....much more than they can ever realize.
I am so blessed to be her mama.
