since the first engagement session back in july, we have been meaning to do more. i love that we waited for fall to do this one. it has a cozier, slightly grittier feel. Since Chloe loves Fall, and their wedding is in the Fall (15 more days!!), i'm so glad we got a chance to do this :)
The day they came over, i gave chloe her bridal shower gift a little early (i was hosting the shower the next day):
Chloe has always wanted a quilt. That girl uses more quilts of mine than anyone! every time she comes over, she uses like 3 or 4 of them! :) Anyway, as her matron of honor, i wanted to give her something special. It was super fun to make this, and i wish we had video-taped her opening it! i don't think it's possible to be more excited, lol.
Anyway, so a few hours later when we started the shoot, the quilt was used :)
with scott, there is always laughter :)
(one of my favorites)
that look means he just said something mischievous. lol. i wish i remember what it was!
For my 30th Birthday, adam planned a surprise getaway. i knew we were going somewhere, i just didn't know where!! As i think everyone knows, on the day we were set to leave, ashlyn came down with strep. So we stayed home. i was sooo bummed. adam told me on that day, that we were going down to Oregon to Seaside/cannon beach area. i have been wanting to go down there for sooo long. needless to say, i was bummed. we didn't know if we were going to get to go at all! Thankfully, Scott and Chloe were able to babysit the next weekend, and we were able to change our reservation.
On the way down to Oregon, the weather wasn't looking too promising :)
i was so excited to see fall color along the road!
(i'm pretty sure i took this exact photo with him wearing this shirt on our Canada trip last year. haha)
Seaside Beach...our hotel was in Seaside, which is about 10 min from Cannon Beach. This stretch of sand was right in front of our hotel.
i loved the grasses in the sand. so pretty.
adam asked to take my photo. he was so cute telling me where to stand and everything :)
we went down to the main street, had dinner, then headed back to the sand to watch the sun set.
the beach was sooooo peaceful. my goodness. The tide was pretty far out, so the beach just seemed HUGE.
as we headed back to the hotel, bonfires started popping up..You don't have to have a pit...just anywhere on the sand is fine! next time, we are totally doing that!
The next morning, we woke up and headed to Cannon Beach for the day. We went to a place called the Wayfarer on recommendation. BOY was it good! We were lucky to be seated at a window with a view :)
adam snapped this. me and my coffee like to match. ;)
let me just say, that this waffle knocked my socks off. just looking at it makes me want to drive back down for another one :)
haystack rock. you have no idea how long i've wanted to see it in person! (adam thinks i'm a little nuts.) again, it was sooo peaceful. your ears are filled with seagulls calling and the waves rolling. So different from crowded SoCal beaches i grew up with.
you are about to see a million photos of me in front of this rock. just be happy i didn't post the other 2 million i have :). i can't help it! I.WAS.SO.EXCITED.
he is making fun of me here. ;)
i love this one of us for some reason. :)
LOVE. i wasn't sure this was going to work out b/c of how my camera didn't quite feel as though it was focusing on what was inside the telescope. it was, though! adam took this specific photo. i loved that the seagull had flown into the frame :)
i loved the mist that was forming around the mts. i loved the guy on the bike. i loved the orange sand pail. it was really just a relaxed atmosphere..
it was lowtide, so the tidepools were there, and these guys were ALL around the base of Haystack rock (and some of the smaller rocks around). so colorful!!
one word. SEAGULLS. the amount was staggering. thankfully, they mostly stayed at the water. They were pretty entertaining.
we were on the beach for hours. we sat in the above chairs for awhile and really didn't want to move. the beach had a trance-like effect on us. But eventually we got hungry for lunch and went to check out the main street where all the shops and food places were. We went to another recommended place (thank you, Andrea!), Bill's Tavern. we shared fish n chips and tried their local beer. cool place to chill :)
we walked along the strip... bought candy and sweets from the candy shop, found some souvenier shirts, etc.
adam had found this wine place online while planning the trip. upstairs they had wine tasting..yummy stuff! we ended up buying a locally made pinot noir recommended by the shop owner. it was really good.
(taken with adam's iphone)
at the antique shop next door. i wanted these so bad! maybe some other time.
we ate dinner (yum), stopped for popcorn and coffee, then headed back to the sand for sunset :)
adam and i think it would be sooo fun to rent a big house here with all his siblings (and their families when they start to have kids) for a big ole family get together.
i took this with my iphone. turn your volume up so you can hear the seagulls and stuff (it's kind of faint)
on our way back to the car, we saw this guy. it was sooo dark and i have no flash. i had to slow my shutter way down and try to hold still while it took the photo. the photo came out ok considering! Isn't he cool?
the next day, we sadly headed home. it went too quick! But it was sooo very relaxing and a needed gettaway.we felt quite lucky that the weather stayed sunny the whole time we were there. the drive down and the drive back up were grey and rainy.
