vacation photos!

 here are a few pics from my trip... mostly from the wedding, b/c as you know... i'm horrible at taking photos while i am on vacation!

 Rachel's wedding was in Oceanside... they rented a beach house for the weeked.  it was simple and so beautiful! i was so happy i could be there.

on sunday after church, i went to lunch with james and sabrina.  it was so good to hang out with them! and the food was delish :)

 

they make the best margaritas hands-down.  i don't even like regular margaritas usually. but i liked this one!

 

the trip was fantastic.  lots of me time, i made my own schedule, slept in, and got to see a lot of people i miss.  thank you adam for sending me :) xoxo

i'm here, but i'm oh so busy :)

 my trip was awesome... the wedding was beautiful, i got to see a lot of friends and family, and i got to sleep in as late as i wanted every day. :)  i've barely had a chance to even glance at my photos b/c i've had to catch up on life since i have been back... laundry, cleaning, appts.... you know.   The kids are home this week because of parent/teacher conferences, and next week is spring break.  We had their conferences yesterday and both are doing very well.  Ben is reading at a 3rd grade level! he does very well academically, a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to his school work, and other than being a bit distracted at times, he's a great student.  his teacher gushed a little over how smart he is, and how he is always happy and said he's a great little boy.  so of course, that is nice to hear :)  Ashlyn is a perfect student... smart, helpful, a self-manager, friendly, etc.  no real surprise there :)

 anyway, my mom flies in today.  i need to get ready and start heading over to the airport.  i will try to get photos up soon!

a new bag for me!

 so, i love my purse, but sometimes i want to take my camera places, and it's awkward to have it around my neck.  So, i saw this pattern for the Amy Butler Birdie sling, and i was a woman obsessed!  i had to have it.  So, i bought the pattern, decided fabric, and the fabric came in the mail on monday.  yesterday i washed and dried it, and went to cutting!  i started at 2:15, and i sewed my last stitch a little after 1am.   11 hours!  the pattern was easy to follow.  i've never done anything but quilts, so it was fun learning new things.  i used woven interfacing throughout, and fleece interfacing for the liner.  it feels really good...lightweight, but solid and substantial.  i'm really proud!  i was nervous it would look wonky and amateur since it was my first try, but it totally doesn't! 

anyway, i'm leaving for san diego tomorrow morning (a good friend of mine is getting married), and this is the perfect bag to have!  i'll be back on monday night! :)

i chose yellow and grey b/c it's pretty neutral, and goes with all the colors i wear.   plus it's springy/summery!

 

but i wanted a pop of color....  i love this!!

it's an awesome bag.  i'm sure i'll be making a rich toned fall bag later this year! 

now on to making clothing for ashlyn... i have the pattern... now to pick the fabrics!

 yesterday after church, we went out to Doc's Marina Grill out on Bainbridge Island.   We invited a couple we do music with at church, and Scott and Chloe ferry'd out to meet us from seattle.

after we ate and hung out, Scott and Chloe came over and we played adam's favorite game... monopoly....the game lasted 3.5 hours...and he won. :)

hi!

 so, this week, scotty moved out... he found a place over in Ballard (a neighborhood of seattle) to share with Chloe's cousin, Jay.   Jay is an old  friend of our cousin Ryan... it's a whole circle of friendship now. :)   We met up with scott, chloe, and jay yesterday... we all went down to tacoma to watch adam play raquetball in a mini-type tournament.  it was fun, and adam tied for first place :)  The only photo i took of the day was on stacey's camera, and it was of ashlyn sitting and reading.  so, not much to share on that!!  We went to dinner afterward and hung out for a bit--it was totally fun.  

 i have these bowling photos to share, though.  2 weeks ago, we randomly decided to go bowling on a thursday night.  it was so much fun!  ashlyn had never been, and the rest of us (except adam and ben) hadn't been in quite awhile.  i actually bowled 2 strikes and a couple hard spares!  :)  these are mostly blurry and gritty, but i don't care :)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ashlyn would patiently wait til the ball got almost to the pins, and then turn and walk away before she saw how many pins went down. lol.

seven

how we have been parents to this little girl for seven years, is beyond me.  the time goes by so quickly, doesn't it? 

we decked the house out in streamers and balloons last night after she went to bed, to greet her as she woke up, and daddy made pancakes for breakfast early this morning.

 

  

 

 

double date in seattle

 adam and i went over to seattle on saturday for a double date with Scott and Chloe.  We took the ferry over, and got into the city about 5:00.   we went to dinner at Gordon Biersch, grabbed some coffee at starbucks, went up to Kerry Park to overlook the city, Chloe showed us around the historic Queen Anne house she is moving out of (it was SO cool!), we had dessert at Melting Pot, and then we walked ato the seattle center (which was empty b/c it was midnight by that time) and hung out by the fountain.   After while we took Chloe home and we all took the ferry back.   anyway, it was so much fun to get out and be in the city with those two!
