oh, what a beautiful morning

it's officially spring break.  we have sun forecasted for the week, so i plan to spend as much time out there with the kids as i can.  Our mornings in the Vega house are relaxed and have an "anything goes" mentality.  today, i enjoyed my morning with a cup of coffee in the quiet morning sunshine.  i seriously need a little table and chair set up out there on the deck.  it's such a nice way to start the morning... with the fresh air, the sounds of the world waking up, and the sunshine.  you can't help but feel rejuvenated and happy.  i checked in on the kids, and they were quietly watching cartoons with their sleeping bags.

what the...?

ok, i know.  sorry about posting 3 blogs in the same day, but do you ever find weird pictures when you upload the pics off your CF card?  i seriously do not remember this, nor can i figure out WHY i would take this! lol. so bizaar!

puppet show

ahhh.  the snow is gone--it looks like it was never here. even the sun has come out to say hello :) It was a bit of a deja-vu for me, since we had snow come our way right after easter last year in Colorado.  Although, we didn't have near as much snow this time!

Spring Break is this coming week for ashlyn, so i am looking forward to having her home.

the kids put on a show for me yesterday.  ashlyn made the frog at school, and then they made two more at home.  it  was very short, and pretty much had no storyline other than, "the princess was walking along, and the frog kissed her."  Then at some point, the fly (ben's) went into the frog's mouth. lol. :)

and of course, you can't have a performance without taking a bow at the end :)

"thank-you!  thank-you!  thank-you!"

um, spring? where'd you go?

SO weird. for us anyway.  i just hope it doesn't kill my flowers! ben was so excited. he kept saying, "oh, it's my favorite, FAVORITE time! i LOVE the snow!"

it started snowing late this morning, and then it kept snowing, and snowing, and started to stick.

oh my...he loves eating the snow! he looks like he's going in for the kill! :)

the flakes were HUGE.  i tried to capture it... but it only kind-of shows.

it has since stopped, the rain and sun are melting it away, and ben is out there in his snow clothing, scooping up the leftover ice, eating it, and getting soaked. :)

more outside time

yesterday, i think i spent a few hours just sitting outside, reading, watching ben play, and we eventually got both cameras out and started snapping away.  he had such fun taking pictures.  maybe he's going to be a jack of many trades like his daddy.

we went and brought ashlyn home from school, and they played and colored outside while i finished the laundry

ok, one last thing.  ashlyn made this for me before i woke up this morning (she got up before everyone).  i totally love it. not sure why my legs are missing, but she says my arms are behind my back.

waiting for my clothes to dry

ahhhh.... it's sunny and warm today.  the actual temperature is about 50, but when you sit in the sun, it feels a lot warmer!  my thermometer says it's in the 80's right now, b/c it's sitting in the sun.

the first thing people comment about when they visit us, is how peaceful it is.  So true.  if you sit outside, you might hear an occasional small plane drone by, some birds fluttering through the trees overhead, and maybe a neighbor driving past.  Today, i listen to my dryer hum through the open laundry window, as i read my library book.

i'm definitely looking forward to spending more time out there.

the remainder of the day

easter sunday was a dreary, rainy day, much to our dismay (sunny the days before, and today is sunny too! not fair, i tell ya!).  i had taken the pics of them in their easter clothes a few days ago, b/c i knew it would probably rain ON easter (see ry, i am totally not that fast. lol).  Anyway, we did the hunt inside, and the kids didn't seem to mind at all.  the Black family came down after church and hung out, so their kids joined in on the hunt.

java and clay

My friend shannon was coming into town to spend easter with her family, so she had the idea to get a bunch of girls together at the Java and Clay cafe down by the harbor.  She had goody boxes for all of us, we hung out, drank tea, and talked.  After awhile, we headed into the pottery painting room at the back of the cafe.  It was a lot of fun !

this is what i made.... it's a "you are special" plate. it's for the kids to use at dinner time when they do something extra specially good and noteworthy on that certain day.  after they fire and glaze it, it will be bright red.
