tis the season

Christmas time is here...  i love listening to the Traditional Christmas favorites music channel (you know, christmas songs sung by doris day, sinatra, bing, etc) during the day, we have decorations up, & got the tree up last night.  the kids are craving eggnog or hot chocolate for snack, and we even have a bit of snow in the forecast for Dec 1st.  pretty cool, since the kids have it in their heads that once December hits, the snow should too (they lived in CO snow for too long, i think!).  yesterday i started making a popcorn garland... something i plan to see through this year!  i started one last year, but got bored with making it (it takes a LONG time!).  i only got about 8 feet done yesterday while i watched "White Christmas", and that is only the tip of the iceberg (or tree, i should say).  So, it's a work in progress.

all she wants for christmas...

is a hula hoop :)

yesterday, while we waited for thanksgiving dinner to be ready, ashlyn discovered the Hula Hoop.  She's never done it before, and she figured it out quickly.  i'd say that within a half hour, she was a pro, and now it's all she can talk about.  "i want a hula hoop for christmas, mommy!" :)  it's so fun to see her discover things i used to love as a kid.

this afternoon as i was cleaning, i came upon this.  when they are arguing over toys (like right now),  these sweet moments remind me that they DO love each other :)

art

ben is finally getting interested in drawing and cutting, etc.  up until now, it's all been scribbles... and that was IF he even attempted to draw anything.  his desire to be creative is growing a bit, and he's drawn a few things like a whale with the water spouting up, and yesterday, he drew his first family picture :)

ashlyn, in all of her artistic skill (seriously... it cracks me up that they are only 15 months apart, yet the level at which they draw is SOO incredibly different) has drawn these.  i love them.

my morning

sleeping in. no school today. rain. coffee. catching up on blogs and message boards. babes in the bath, laughing & playing. going to a friends house for a playdate in an hour.

:)

i know, i know... i haven't posted in forever!  i'm barely at my computer, so that's why.

Anyway, things are going well here, i'm unpacked (have been for a week), and i'm just waiting on adam to hang everything on the walls now.  Ashlyn is in school and has a great teacher.  Her teacher says that she is doing really well, and all the little girls in the class swarm around her wanting to get to know her. i'm glad the transistion went well :)

in other news, i have a "new" car.  I don't think i ever blogged about it, but we sold my 4runner in the summertime, and i have been driving adam's truck since he always has a company truck. well adam’s new “company truck” is a suburban. So now adam drives his truck, and i drive the suburban. i was nervous about the hugeness of it, but really, it's not any different in length than adam's truck. It's the luxury package, so it's very nice inside... even heated leather seats! It's also nice having something that can seat 8 for when we have people visit us... we won't have to take multiple cars everywhere :)
